Date: | December, 01 2004 at 20:18:48 | Description: | Oh good lord. Well, here we go. The basic idea is that we are going to begin
the work on the body. The idea is simple:
1) Wax the car so the foam won't stick to it.
2) cover the car in 2-part polyurethane foam.
3) Carve to shape
4) Cover in wall plaster and sand smooth
5) Primer the crap out of it, and sand it glossy.
6) Wax it again
7) Slap on some fiberglass, and build a female mold of the wide-body kit.
8) Make real car sides, and attach.
However.. I made the mistake of buying "Redi-Foam" This stuff is absolute
garbage. You can see one of the cans of it in the bottom of the shot. The
first can went on, and did most of the foam you see on the car. The second
can however, exploded in our hands, and made the mess you see. This stuff
is miserable. The last time I used foam, I used "Froth-Pak" from DOW. That
stuff was a dream to work with. This stuff made a hideous mess, and now I
have to clean it up. In addition, the first can didn't do a very good job,
barely spat out 1/3 of the volume it should have before running out of component
