Time to revamp the homelab

I like to have an insane amount of hardware around.  In my years of working on NetBSD I've done a ton of different things.  Eons ago, I got myself a DEC Alpha, and ported random packages to it.  (It was LP64, and back then, everything was written with horrid int->ptr casts that broke 64 bit.)  I sent boatloads of patches out to maintainers to rototill their code with 64-bit friendly code.  Now everything is 64 bit and stuff doesn't work on 32 anymore..  ha.

I was also the NetBSD PREP and ofppc portmasters.  Because of this.. I have a *tonnage* of IBM and assorted PowerPC equipment lying about.

That leads to something like this...

So lets lay out the current inventory:

  • Main Systems (stuff I actually use daily)
    • alcyone - NetBSD 8.0 - NFS server - AMD 21TB of disk on an Areca array
    • wasat - NetBSD 8.0 - External DNS - Intel
    • pollux - NetBSD 6.0 - External WWW
    • polaris - NetBSD 8.0 - My desktop
    • mebsuta - NetBSD 6.0 - Firewall
  • PowerPC
    • 2 7043's
    • 2 7248's
    • 3 7009-360's
    • 1 7044
    • 1 42W
    • 1 42T
    • 1 Pegasos II
    • 1 OpenPower Mac clone
    • 1 IBM PowerPC thin client
    • 1 Multi-CPU Prep machine
  • Sparc
    • 1 Ultra-1
    • 1 Sparc 1 clone
    • 1 Ultra 10 clone
    • 2 tadpole laptops
  • Alpha
    • 2 Alpha's
  • Misc
    • An HP/700
    • An Itanium
    • 1 hpcmips NEC MobilePro
    • Ancient ARM thin client
    • Piles and piles of ancient SCSI disks

It has all served me well over the years.. but it's time to change things up a bit..
